No strangers to PizzaExpress Jazz Club, it a warm welcome return, for this “Weekend Starts Here Series”, to Chris Ingham’s REBOP band, who have played here many times to admiring sold out audiences. This mighty quintet Rebop, have developed a reputation for evoking the music of Great US jazz greats, together with their own unique creativity, with recent performances of the music of Miles Davis in the 50’s and the challenging sound and inspired jazz of the superpower pianist and composer Horace Silver, among others. For this July concert REBOP explore, for the first time, new aspects of the extensive repertoire of Miles Davis and delve into the thrilling and contrasting styles of the first Great Quintet 1955-57 (with John Coltrane, Red Garland, Paul Chambers and Philly Joe Jones) and his second 1964-67 (with Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter and Tony Williams). To create this wonderful jazz quintet music, under the inspired leadership of Chris Ingham – who brings the history of this music to life, with his thoughtful and witty introductions, REBOP presents the skill and imagination of five outstanding musicians.
