Nadia Sirota – Music for Violas

A live performance and celebration of Nadia Sirota's new album that highlights the viola.

“If the ancient and unassuming viola is having a renaissance in contemporary music, it’s thanks largely to Nadia Sirota” — New York Magazine

Acclaimed violist Nadia Sirota celebrates her new album, Music For Violas, with a performance of solo and ensemble works that showcase the viola’s astonishing range. Featuring a virtuosic ensemble of Los Angeles-based violists, the concert presents an engaging portrait of an often-misunderstood instrument.

A Peabody Award winner and member of acclaimed chamber music sextet yMusic, Sirota has been called one of “the world’s top viola soloists” by The New York Times. In this program, she brings her singular artistry to new works by some of America’s most celebrated and inventive composers, including Nico Muhly, Josh Johnson, David Lang, Marcos Balter, Gabriella Smith, Bryce Dessner and Andrew Norman.
