Panafrica in Rhythm

About the Event

Celebrate Pan-Africanism through rhythm and sound with artists responding to the Project a Black Planet exhibition, co-hosted by Moses Boyd and Jamz Supernova. What connects Black communities across generations, cultures and continents? Panafrica in Rhythm brings together drummers and their invited musicians, poets and storytellers for a powerful live performance exploring Pan-Africanism through sound. Co-hosted by Moses Boyd and Jamz Supernova, this one-night-only event features exclusive collaborations, live percussion, spoken word and visual storytelling from some of the UK's most exciting artists. Moving between tradition and experimentation, the evening traces the rhythms that have travelled across the African diaspora and continue to shape Black culture today. Whether you're discovering these sounds for the first time or hearing echoes of your own story, expect an uplifting celebration of connection, creativity and collective power. Event information:Please note this performance may contain haze and strobe. The performance begins at 7pm and there is no support act. Age guidance:18+, viewer discretion advised. Content warning:This performance contains video footage showing archival and contemporary material relating to the histories of slavery, colonialism, racism and violence. Audiences will encounter images and references that some may find distressing, including depictions of enslavement, physical punishment, racial discrimination, racist language, and historical trauma experienced by people of African descent. The work aims to encourage reflection on the enduring impact of these histories and their resonance in contemporary society.
