Erik Truffaz & Antionio Lizana

Celebrated trumpeter Erik Truffaz and flamenco-jazz phenomenon Antonio Lizana present a reinterpretation of Sketches of Spain, Miles Davis’ iconic masterpiece. The album grew out of Davis’ fascination with Spanish folk music and the country’s cultural heritage. Influences including Joaquín Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez, flamenco, and religious processions were merged into a poetic and visionary album that marked a turning point in jazz’s opening toward world music. Erik Truffaz, one of the leading trumpeters in electro-jazz, combines his lyrical trumpet playing with the fiery expression of Antonio Lizana. Their meeting brings Sketches of Spain back to life, respecting the original while asserting a distinctly contemporary signature.
