ECHO Rising Stars: Camila Mandillo
About the Event
Laughter has always had its place on the concert stage – turn to humour, irony and playfulness at this joyful recital with soprano Camila Mandillo.
Across centuries of music, composers have turned to humour, not as a distraction from seriousness, but as a way of confronting the complexities of life. This recital takes audiences on a journey through musical laughter, showing how works written hundreds of years apart unexpectedly echo one another in surprising ways.
The phrase “And now for something completely different", borrowed from a Monty Python sketch, is not only a title but an ethos. To laugh is to recognise ourselves across generations, borders and the history of music.
Recognised as a prominent voice in contemporary music, Soprano Camila Mandillo is currently an artist in residence at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel (Belgium), under the guidance of Sophie Koch and Stéphane Degout.
