About the Event
Internationally acclaimed pianist Makoto Ozone has been one of Japan's leading jazz musicians for more than four decades. Since making his international debut at Carnegie Hall in 1983, he has collaborated with artists including Gary Burton, Chick Corea, Branford Marsalis and Christian McBride earning a reputation for combining dazzling virtuosity with infectious swing and boundless musical imagination.
Formed to mark the 40th anniversary of Ozone's international debut, TRiNFiNiTY brings together the pianist with bassist Shimpei Ogawa and drummer Kunito Kitai, two outstanding younger musicians with whom he has developed a remarkable musical rapport. Together they blend the spontaneous freedom of jazz with meticulous musicianship, creating playful, adventurous and expressive performances.
Following the release of their debut album TRiNFiNiTY in 2024 and its acclaimed follow-up For Someone in 2026, the trio has quickly established itself as one of the most exciting groups on the contemporary jazz scene, pairing Ozone's masterful piano with the youthful energy and fearless interplay of his exceptional bandmates.
