About the Event

Pioneering British band Soft Machine return with Thirteen, their thirteenth studio album and a bold new chapter in a 60-year journey of boundary‑pushing music. One of the most influential avant/jazz‑rock groups to emerge from the Canterbury Scene, the band evolved from psychedelic contemporaries of Syd Barrett’s Pink Floyd and the Jimi Hendrix Experience into one of Europe’s leading fusion bands. inspiring generations of experimental musicians along the way.

Despite many line‑up changes since the late 1960s, the band’s commitment to musical exploration remains constant, moving fluidly between progressive jazz‑rock, atmospheric psychedelia, free improvisation and ambient looping. Thirteen showcases long‑time guitarist John Etheridge, a member for over five decades, alongside major compositional contributions from saxophonist, flautist and keyboardist Theo Travis. Meanwhile, newest member, drummer and composer Asaf Sirkis, brings a dynamic presence praised by former Soft Machine drummer Robert Wyatt for his “ethereal, haunting compositions.”

With Thirteen, Soft Machine reaffirm their status as masters of progressive jazz‑rock, free improvisation, and sonic exploration.
