About the Event

"I am honored to have Julez singing my best songs. We even use the same hair dye!" - Millicent Martin.

Julez Hamilton pays tribute to this beloved British icon in her new show, directed and co-written by Shelly Goldstein. With songs & stories from an unequalled 6-decade career, Julez brings to life Millie's meteoric rise from the West End to Broadway to Films & TV, including the BBC's groundbreaking smash, That Was TheWeek That Was and her lifelong collaboration with Sondheim. Featuring Daniel Hall. MD CJ Welsh.

Julez Hamilton (Millie – Co-Writer) trained as a bel canto soprano before graduating in Musical Theatre from Mountview (she can’t recall the date.) Often likened to the great Millicent Martin, Julez is honored to pay musical tribute to an icon she adores. Julezreturns to the Pheasantry where she previously paid tribute to the music of the great Lena Horne. As a cabaret artist, Julezhas performed across Europe, the US, South Africa and Russia. In London she’s appeared at Ronnie Scott’s, The Ritz, St. James Studio, Drury Club and Le Crazy Coqs were she’s produced and performed tributes to Sondheim, Kander & Ebb and a 50thAnniversary concert of Godspell. Opera credits include Musetta in La Bohème & Marguerite in Faust at the Bath Opera.

Daniel Hall, born in Scotland to an English father and a Canadian mother, and then spending his formative years in Australia and Malaysia, Daniel grew up with an identity crisis. His parents were very keen for him to follow them into the sciences, and with this in mind ensured that he had the finest education available. However they were finally forced to admit that his only real talent was for making noises out of his head, and so at the tender age of 17 he moved to London to study acting at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts.
Since graduating in 2012 Daniel has been lucky enough to have performed in many stage and screen projects. Some of his credits include The Phantom Of The Opera, My Fair Lady, Camelot, A Little Night Music, Hollyoaks, The Importance Of Being Ernest, A Midsummers Nights Dream, Great Expectations and Derren Browns’ Apocalypse.

Shelly Goldstein (Director – Co-Writer) is a writer-performer-director who appears frequently in the US and UK, often as her alter ego, “GroovyShelly.” She’s performed alongside Lily Tomlin in the comedy special, Wait! Wait! Don’t Kill Me and appeared withJulez in several cabarets, including Godspell. She’s written for such artists as Steve Martin, Hugh Jackman, Sheryl Lee Ralph and Yoko Ono, and written tributes for Dame Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke. Currently, she’sone of the writers on “Sherlock & Daughter,” starring David Thewlis.

CJ Welsh (Musical Director), a graduate of the Royal Welsh College of Music is one of the most popular MDs in the West End and Julez’smusical Partner-in-Crime. He’s arranged and played many of Julez’s recent shows, including Sondheim, Kander & Ebb, Lena and Godspell. Without CJ, Julez insists, she wouldn’t be half as good.
