About the Event

Led by drummer and bandleader Pete Ray Biggin, PBUG (PB Underground) are a nine-piece funk band bringing together some of the most in-demand musicians on the London scene.

Biggin is a drummer of cult status among the UK’s drumming elite, with a career that has taken him from Level 42 and Incognito to Amy Winehouse, Chaka Khan and Mark Ronson. He formed PBUG to put his own songwriting and love of funk centre stage, building a band around deep grooves, tight horn arrangements and a powerful live sound.

The band’s music draws on classic funk, soul and jazz, combining sharp musicianship with the loose, infectious feel of a great funk band. It’s a sound that works just as well for serious jazz and funk fans as it does for anyone who likes their music hard-hitting, rhythmic and seriously funky.

After building a loyal following with their annual sold-out Ronnie Scott’s shows, PBUG return for two more nights led by one of the UK’s most in-demand drummers.

“A funk revival is happening and this band should be king.”
— UK Jazz News

“This was a slick amalgam of funk and jazz riffing, loose enough to attract people who appreciate improvised music, and funky enough to satisfy a heritage funk audience.”
— Jazzwise
