About the Event

A special evening of live music and visual art created through a collaborative project with University College London, exploring the experiences of younger people living with Parkinson’s.

Over a series of workshops at University College London and Kings Place, participants aged 18–50 have worked together to explore their experiences of living with Parkinson’s through art and music. With the support of professional musicians and artists, the group has developed visual material and a new piece of music shaped by their ideas, experiences and creative contributions.

This performance brings that work to the stage, sharing the music developed during the project alongside the visual artwork that inspired it.

The project explores how collaborative music- and art-making can support wellbeing and provide new ways for people with young-onset Parkinson’s to express and communicate their experiences.

The event is open to participants, friends and family, the Parkinson’s community and members of the public.

This event will last approximately 1 hour, without an interval.

More about the project

The project, led by researchers at University College London, explores the potential mental-health benefits of art and music for people with young-onset Parkinson’s.

Participants have taken part in a series of creative workshops, using drawing and visual art to explore their experiences before working with professional musicians to transform these ideas into music.

The project is funded by Arts Council England and has been developed in collaboration with Parkinson’s UK and Kings Place.
