About the Event
Formed in 1996 by American guitarist Ry Cooder and Cuban bandleader Juan de Marcos González, the original Buena Vista Social Club brought together Cuba’s finest veteran musicians to revive the island’s rich pre-revolutionary sounds. Their eponymous 1997 album became a global phenomenon, winning a Grammy and celebrating the timeless magic of Cuban music.
Buena Vista Live channels that spirit in a vibrant revue Upstairs at Ronnie’s. This will be an evening of son, bolero, danzón and cha-cha-cha performed by the finest Cuban musicians in the UK.
Expect intricate guitar lines, vibrant piano flourishes, soulful trumpet solos, and irresistible rhythms from congas and timbales, all carried by passionate vocals that tell stories of love, longing and everyday life in Havana and beyond.
