About the Event
Dedicated solely to Beethoven’s music, this programme revels in the idiosyncrasy of his genius. The ‘Kakadu’ variations is a work spanning early and late periods of creativity, at once banal and profound. The Grosse Fuge, perhaps one of his most staggering and challenging movements for string quartet, is heard here in Beethoven’s own arrangement for piano. Finally the magnificent ‘Harp’ Quartet thrillingly contrasts Beethoven’s inward and extrovert personalities.
