Performing on period instruments and with deep experience of exploring Beethoven together, Viktoria Mullova and Alasdair Beatson continue their Wigmore Hall celebration of the composer’s violin sonatas with the winning combination of his three Op. 30 pieces and the dramatic contrasts and improvisatory freedom of Op. 12 No. 3, the originality of which left an early critic bemused by its ‘heaping up of difficulties’.
