Me and My Shadow celebrates the art of the jazz vocal duet, where two voices weave, harmonise and improvise - listening and responding to one another like horn players.

This special one-off show explores the rich history of vocal partnerships in jazz, from the playful exchanges of Betty Carter & Carmen McRae and the timeless partnership of Ella Fitzgerald & Louis Armstrong, to the vocal fireworks of Lambert, Hendricks & Ross, the effortless charm of Frank Sinatra & Sammy Davis Jr., and the intimate songwriting of Rachel & Vilray.

Louise Messenger and Sam Carelse first discovered their musical chemistry in 2023, when they were booked on a gig in Italy together. Despite living in different parts of the UK, every chance to sing together since then is a joyful reunion - a celebration of friendship, connection and their shared love of jazz.

Supported by a stellar band of London’s finest jazz musicians (and some very special guests!), expect swing, close harmony, inventive arrangements, playful improvisation, hidden treasures, beloved standards, plenty of laughter, and the sheer delight of two singers listening as much as they sing.
