About the Event
Jazz guitarist Peter Bernstein has been a part of the New York jazz scene since 1989. Since then, he has participated in over 200 recordings and countless festival, concert, and club performances with musicians from all generations. He has recorded as both a leader and sideman for some of the world's top labels, including Criss Cross, Smoke Sessions, and HighNote. His first big break came during his studies at the New School when he met the legendary guitarist Jim Hall. Hall invited Peter to perform at his concert during the 1990 JVC Jazz Festival. Peter has also maintained a long-standing musical connection with the legendary drummer Jimmy Cobb, as well as with organist Larry Goldings and drummer Bill Stewart as a member of their highly acclaimed trio. The New York Times called them "the best organ trio of the last decade." Together, they recorded a dozen albums, all of which showcase their distinctive sound. From 1995 to 1997, Peter was a member of Joshua Redman’s band, and from 1999 to 2001, he played with Diana Krall's quartet and with the legendary organist Dr. Lonnie Smith.
