Royal Academy Jazz Orchestra

Directed by Giacomo Smith for the EFG London Jazz Festival, the Academy Jazz Orchestra celebrates Dizzy Gillespie and Duke Ellington by performing music from their historic 1958 collaboration and individual catalogues.

Join us for a special EFG London Jazz Festival concert celebrating the lives and music of Dizzy Gillespie and Duke Ellington. This event highlights their only recorded meeting, which took place in 1958 at Columbia’s 30th Street Studio in New York City. The concert features music from both artists’ catalogues, along with selections from their remarkable collaboration.
