About the Event

Happy Hour Set from 6:00 - 7:00pm

Bell Thompson is an award‑winning trumpet player and composer from Seattle, currently based in New York City. Her playing celebrates the jazz tradition of swing and hard bop, while showcasing her vibrant tone and exciting sense of melody.

On September 15, she opens the night at Close Up in a duo with renowned pianist Bruce Barth, featured within the Festival of New Trumpet Music evening curated by Dave Adewumi.

Bell studied at Temple University in Philadelphia, where she completed her qualitative research project Gender and Jazz: The Experience of Young Women in Jazz Education. In 2024, she earned her Master of Music in Global Jazz from the Berklee Global Jazz Institute.

Her debut album, Most Prized, was released in March of 2026, as a musical love letter to the friendships, mentors, and community she found living in Philadelphia.
