About the Event

Robert Levin, whose knowledge of Mozart is second to none, is joined in this lecture-recital by Ya-Fei Chuang for repertoire that draws surprising connections between Liszt and Mozart, reflecting the former’s deep admiration for the latter as a bold innovator and virtuoso performer. Liszt, who owned a spinet that had once belonged to Mozart, remained a close student of the Austrian composer’s music throughout his life. His Réminiscences de Don Juan builds a tightly organised dramatic fantasy out of themes from Mozart’s opera Don Giovanni.
