About the Event
Alexander Bryson, a London-based jazz pianist, singer-songwriter and bandleader, draws inspiration from the Great American Songbook for his original songs. Blending classic American songwriting with modern jazz, his music is filled with humour, poignancy and memorable melodies.
As a pianist, Alex has performed at internationally renowned venues like Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, Blues Alley in Washington DC and the 606 Club. He’s also played at the Cork, Derry and London Jazz Festivals. A sought-after sideman, he’s collaborated with Grant Stewart, Chris Cheek, Alex Garnett, Steve Fishwick, Ossian Roberts, Allison Neale, Benoit Viellefon and many others.
Originally trained as a classical pianist, Alex graduated from Trinity College of Music before moving to New York. There he studied at Mannes College and the Aaron Copland School of Music. Living in New York, he immersed himself in the city’s jazz scene, studying with Barry Harris, Jeb Patton, Michael Weiss, Antonio Hart and Dennis Mackrell. This led him to become a full-time jazz pianist.
Now based in London, Alex regularly performs with his trio featuring Asaph Tal on bass and Joe Dessauer on drums.
