ECHO Rising Star: Petar Pejčić
About the Event
Cellist Petar Pejčić traces the journey from quiet introspection to ecstatic transcendence in this meditative violoncello solo that sees the cello become an extension of the voice.
Inspired by Pejčić’s personal relationship to the process of prayer, this concert mediates on the evolution from contemplation to meditation, into an overwhelming sense of elation and self-transcendence.
Each piece in the program contributes to this arc. The works of Dall’Abaco and Bloch ground the listener in profound solitude, Sollima then push the boundaries of the instrument’s expressive potential, leading the program toward a state of rapture and transcendence with Bach, Ligeti, and Živković.
The ECHO (European Concert Hall Organisation) Rising Stars program identifies and supports exceptional emerging musicians, hosting around 110 concerts and 70 special projects annually across European halls.
