About the Event

In collaboration with Amsterdam Dance Event and in partnership with Steppin’, we turn our hall into a club for one night. The seats come out, the room goes standing and the dance floor opens.

Where many bands revolve around a single voice or lead instrument, RADIOHOP builds a truly collective sound. Every member plays an equal role and the music moves as one organism, driven by feeling and atmosphere rather than ego or the spotlight. The instrumental quartet from Amsterdam, made up of Joshua Lutz, Euan Jenkins, Johnny Biner and Joel Svedberg, shapes its compositions through experimentation, intuitive collaboration and deep listening, weaving jazz, hip hop and groove into compelling soundscapes. Following their debut album All We Do came a remix EP and the beat-focused album Hard To Handle, and the band has recorded a second full-length that digs even deeper into that raw, collaborative energy.

Tenor saxophonist Tomoki Sanders moves effortlessly between two worlds: the New York lineage of spiritual, adventurous jazz and today’s beat and hip hop scene. From their New York base they share the stage with greats such as Pharoah Sanders, Ravi Coltrane and the Jack DeJohnette Trio, while also working with innovators like Kassa Overall, Taylor McFerrin and Mark de Clive-Lowe. With roots in both New York and Japan, Sanders draws these different languages into a raw, searching sound of their own. The result is music as at home in a club night as in the concert hall.
