About
Don Glori is the project of Melbourne/Naarm-born, London-based producer, composer and multi-instrumentalist Gordon Li. Traversing jazz, funk, soul, R&B, samba and beyond, his music is genre-fluid, deeply musical and hard to pin down, but impossible to forget.
Following his long-awaited debut album Welcome, which garnered support from BBC, NTS, Worldwide FM, Rinse FM, KEXP and more, Don Glori has continued to establish himself as a distinctive voice in the London jazz scene. His latest album, Paper Can’t Wrap Fire (Mr Bongo), marks a new chapter in his songwriting and bandleading, blending jazz finesse with song-led soul, rich harmonies and cosmic grooves.
For this special Late Late Show, Don is joined by an all-star band of Grifton Forbes-Amos on trumpet, Eddie Lee on keys and Myele Manzanza on drums, road-testing new compositions from Paper Can’t Wrap Fire.
Every Friday and Saturday night from 11.15pm, Ronnie Scott’s presents the Late Late Show, where some of the UK’s finest jazz talent takes to the stage for a late-night blowing session. The music includes a range of music influenced by jazz-funk, soul, R&B and hip hop. A DJ will play sets before and after the live sets.
Most tickets for the Late Late Show will be available at the door if advance tickets have sold out.
“A kaleidoscopic fusion of jazz, soul, and funk... the material has an improvisatory sparkle... it moves between the creative liquidity of jazz and the floral melodics of soul.”
— Clash Magazine
“A musical odyssey with plenty of funky fusion and cosmic grooves, blended with lush vocal harmonies that compliment each other perfectly.”
— BeatCaffeine
