About the Event

Dave Kikoski – piano
Kush Abade – drums
Danton Boller – bass

With Roy Hargrove, Danton was featured on two landmark albums: Earfood and Emergence. His iconic bass intro on “Strasbourg St. Denis” helped make the tune a modern jazz standard, now streamed over 13 million times on Spotify. He’s also featured in the acclaimed concert film Live at the New Morning.

Danton’s musical foundation was shaped by mentorship with Eugene J. Wright of the Dave Brubeck Quartet, whose legendary bass — heard on Take Five — he now plays. Raised near Los Angeles, he performed professionally as a teen while studying at California State University Long Beach and played with artists including Ernie Andrews, Roy McCurdy, and Bobby Shew.

Since relocating to NYC in 1997, Danton has worked with icons like Mulgrew Miller, Kenny Barron, Russell Malone, and the Village Vanguard Orchestra, as well as crossover artists such as Elvis Costello, Run the Jewels, and Taylor Mac. He co-produced Way Down Low by Kat Edmonson and appears in the films Taylor Mac’s 24-Decade History and Can You Ever Forgive Me?

His 2023 release SPACE on ONBO Records features original music and a top-tier ensemble. Danton currently teaches jazz bass at Western Connecticut State University.
