Laura Zakian returns to the PizzaExpress with an expansive journey through her favourite songs from the jazz cannon and beyond.
Join accomplished jazz singer Laura and her trio for an assured and inspired tour of classic standards and jazz arrangements of pop melodies Expect a relaxed and uplifting session that is by turns familiar and intriguing, but always fresh.
Laura Zakian effortlessly ranges from elastic swing to atmospheric and haunting ballads. Assured jazz vocalist Laura Zakian has been an established part of the London jazz scene for more than two decades. Long acclaimed for her “consummate” interpretation of Great American Songbook standards, in amongst the set will be a fair sprinkling of swinging standards and classic pop tunes drawn from Laura’s five albums and beyond, effortlessly realised by Laura’s effervescent regular quartet - Steve Lodder (keys), Paul Bartholomew (baritone), Andy Hammill (bass) and Matt Home (drums).
Laura studied jazz singing in London and New York. She combines her artistic career with teaching aspiring vocalists at Goldsmiths College, across London and in private practice.
