Hilary Hahn / Matthias Goerne / Yekwon Sunwoo

Colburn Celebrity Recital

Three-time Grammy winner Hilary Hahn teams up with Van Cliburn gold medalist Yekwon Sunwoo and baritone Matthias Goerne, whose voice carries “every tremor of emotion with clarity and depth” (Bachtrack), for a new work by Indian American composer Reena Esmail.

Adding vivid color and warmth to the program, Hahn also performs art songs and a sonata by Beethoven. “Despite being one of his most optimistic works, the [“Spring”] Sonata was written as the composer came to accept that he would never hear again. To this sunny piece Hahn [brings] perfection and energy” (Bachtrack).

Program

• Ludwig van Beethoven — Violin Sonata No. 5, “Spring”
• Ludwig van Beethoven — Songs to be announced
• Reena Esmail — New Work for Violin and Baritone
