About the Event

Michelle John is a British vocalist whose career spans gospel, soul, pop and classical crossover. From singing in her local gospel choir as a child to working with artists including Eric Clapton, Annie Lennox, Carole King, George Michael, Céline Dion, Mariah Carey, Madonna, Mary J Blige, Tom Jones and Andrea Bocelli, her wide-ranging experience has shaped a distinctive artistic vision and commanding stage presence.

In 2017 she reached the final of The Voice UK as part of Will.i.am’s team, performing weekly to a national audience of over five million viewers. She has appeared on some of the world’s most prestigious stages, including performances for President Obama at the White House and for Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace. Alongside her performance career, she is also a respected vocal coach, working with artists including Rita Ora, Girls Aloud, Mystique and Liberty X.

Michelle’s debut album Diva Songbook: Through the Storm showcased her powerhouse vocals across a mix of originals and reimagined classics, moving from intimate ballads to full-scale vocal performances. Her recent singles “Raising a Man” and “Labels (Am I Good Enough?)” have received critical acclaim, with support from BBC radio. She currently tours internationally with BBC’s Planet Earth Live, performing with the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra across Europe and beyond.

“Capable of feathery inflections, John can also belt with vibrato-fuelled gloriousness, and wail and extemporise with gospel fervour.”
