Following acclaimed performances at the Blue Note Jazz Festival New York, London Jazz Festival, Montreux Jazz Festival, and other leading international stages, Romanian pianist, composer and Yamaha Artist Sorin Zlat returns to PizzaExpress Live Soho with his trio to present Changing Times, a brand-new album of original music.

Joined by Mikele Montolli (double bass) and Andy Trim (drums), the trio blends modern jazz with lyrical melodies, cinematic colours and fearless improvisation.

Inspired by Sorin's background in film scoring, his original compositions create rich musical landscapes that are both expressive and emotionally compelling. Expect world-class musicianship and an unforgettable evening of contemporary jazz.

Romanian pianist, composer and Yamaha Artist Sorin Zlat returns to PizzaExpress Live Soho with his acclaimed trio to present Changing Times, a new programme featuring original compositions from his forthcoming album.

Founded in 2008, Sorin Zlat Trio has developed a distinctive musical identity, combining lyricism, energy and fearless improvisation with a fresh, contemporary approach to the jazz tradition.

Recognised as one of Europe's leading jazz pianists, Sorin has performed at some of the world's most prestigious festivals and venues, including the Blue Note Jazz Festival New York, London Jazz Festival, Montreux Jazz Festival, Jacksonville Jazz Festival, Jaffa Jazz Festival, Baku Jazz Festival, Birdland New York, Kings Place, Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club London and many more. His international career has been shaped by major achievements, including winning both the Grand Prize at the Great American Jazz Piano Competition and the Grand Prize at the Montreux Jazz Piano Solo Competition in 2015, becoming the first non-American pianist to win the Jacksonville competition. In 2017, Sorin was invited as a headlining artist at the Jacksonville Jazz Festival, sharing the stage with artists including Chick Corea Trio, Joey Alexander Trio, Gerald Clayton and Gregory Porter. His international career has since taken him across Europe, North America and Asia, while in 2019 he became an official Yamaha Artist. He was also invited to perform at the prestigious JEN Conference in the United States alongside leading American jazz musicians.

Alongside his performing career, Sorin is Professor of Jazz Piano at the National University of Music Bucharest and a graduate of the Composition for Screen programme at the Royal College of Music London. His work as a film composer has become an essential part of his artistic voice, bringing cinematic storytelling, orchestral colours and emotional depth into his original jazz compositions.

For this special performance, Sorin is joined by Italian bassist Mikele Montolli, whose career includes collaborations with members of the legendary Sun Ra Arkestra, and British drummer Andy Trim, one of London's most respected jazz drummers. Together they present Changing Times—a musical journey through modern jazz, post-bop, Latin, flamenco, funk and cinematic influences.

More than an album, Changing Times reflects Sorin's belief that jazz is a universal language capable of bringing together musicians from different cultures, generations and musical backgrounds. Rich melodies, expressive improvisation and exceptional trio interplay promise an evening of creativity, virtuosity and genuine musical storytelling.
