About the Event
George Coleman is one of the world’s greatest living saxophonists. As soon as he came to NYC in 1958, he was called by Max Roach, Miles Davis, and Herbie Hancock to be anchors in their bands, lending his sounds to iconic recordings like “Maiden Voyage,” “Seven Steps to Heaven,” and “Deeds, Not Words”.
Since then George hasn’t slowed down. He keeps younger musicians on their toes, playing without a setlist or direction until he starts playing. Beautiful ballads, burning tempos, and soulful interludes, you can expect it all when you listen to George.
He is joined by a seriously swinging rhythm section including his son George Coleman Jr. on drums.
